FAQs

How do I prepare for my appointment?

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Make sure to drink a lot of water before (and during, and after) your session.

  • Wear loose fitting clothing so that you are comfortable when you leave.

  • Start with a clean slate. It is important to remove all makeup and lotion to ensure your pores do not absorb any chemicals as they open up in the heat.

  • Arrive 5 minutes early.

How hot will it get?

The standard temperature for infrared saunas is 62-64°C, and the max temperature is 70°C. You can adjust the temperature to your comfort level. While this is lower than traditional saunas, you will still get very sweaty as your core body temperature is targeted.

What should I wear in the sauna?

We recommend a bathing suit or your birthday suit. Regardless of what you do or don’t wear, we kindly ask that you sit on the provided bench towel during your session to facilitate our cleaning procedures.

Can I bring my cell phone into the sauna?

Yes, you can, but you should be aware of the risks! Electronic devices will heat up in the sauna, and certain applications and functions (like watching videos) will cause your phone to heat up even faster. Most cell phones have a feature that shuts it off when the phone temperature reaches a certain degree. You will be sweating a lot, and your phone may be vulnerable to water damage. We are not responsible for any damage to your electronic devices. If you are hoping to use your phone for listening to music, we recommend connecting it to our bluetooth speakers and setting a playlist before you head in.

Can I bring water into the sauna?

We highly recommend coming to your sauna session well-hydrated and encourage you to bring water along. It is okay to have your water with you in the sauna. Do not bring any other beverages (or food) into the saunas.

Do I need to wear eye protection?

Eye protection is not necessary for infrared light, chromotherapy, and red light therapy use. However, we strongly recommend against looking directly into any of our lamps. The lights are bright and some individuals may be more sensitive to light than others. For light sensitive individuals, closing your eyes or wearing the goggles should be considered.

Will I be provided with a towel?

Yes, all guests will be provided with clean towels and refreshing eucalyptus towels.

How often should I use infrared saunas?

The more the better!

Can I have a friend / family member in the sauna with me?

All of our saunas can accommodate 2 people, however, we will be following provincial health guidelines as they are updated. Please contact us or visit our COVID 19 section (link) for updates. Pricing per session is applied to each person using the sauna.

Do I need to shower after using the sauna?

After your session, we suggest letting your body cool down naturally before doing anything else. Sit down, drink some water, and relax for a good 5 to 10 minutes. Your body will continue to sweat during this time, and potentially even longer than that. We encourage a shower 20 to 30 minutes after your session so your body has time to finish sweating. A shower will help to rinse off any toxins that may have been expelled through your skin.

Is this the same as tanning?

No, you will not get a tan from infrared or red light. None of our saunas emit UV radiation.

Is red light therapy the same as IPL (intense pulsed light) or laser therapy?

No. IPL and laser therapy use very high intensity light in short bursts while red light therapy is a passive, low intensity treatment and is spread out over a longer period of time. Both can improve the skin’s appearance.
