What is infrared heat?

Infrared radiant heat is best compared to the warming effects of the sun. Our saunas mimic the sun’s infrared rays and use this invisible light source to warm your body upon contact. Infrared rays penetrate your skin and simultaneously work to dissolve the harmful toxins we accumulate during everyday life. They also support cell rejuvenation and work to increase your metabolism. All of our saunas use the highest quality of infrared heat to ensure our clients receive the ultimate in therapeutic benefits. 

There are three main categories of infrared wavelengths:

far infrared

Far infrared wavelengths penetrate the deepest into the body and are transferred purely into heat energy. This light increases your core body temperature, induces a deep sweat, and helps to eliminate toxins from your body. The soothing heat eases muscles to help the body relax.

Mid infrared

Mid infrared wavelengths reach the body’s soft tissue to target injury and inflammation. Mid infrared light helps to expand blood vessels, increase circulation, and move oxygen to injured areas of the body. When used with far infrared light, it stimulates the cardiovascular system and raises your body temperature which in turn increases your body’s metabolic rate.

Near infrared wavelengths target the surface of the skin where it promotes wound healing, and reduces pain and inflammation. It also provides anti-aging benefits by increasing collagen and elastin in skin cells.

What is Red Light Therapy?

Red light therapy, often referred to as photobiomodulation, uses low-level LED red light wavelengths that penetrate below the skin’s surface and promote healthy, energy-efficient cells. Exposure to this red light produces a biochemical effect in human cells which strengthen the mitochondria, our cell’s energy producing structures. Mitochondria produce energy in the form of a molecule called ATP (adenosine triphosphate), and as the mitochondria increase in function, they can create more ATP. The increased energy allows the cells to function more efficiently, rejuvenate themselves, and repair damage, resulting in a variety of health and wellness benefits

What is Chromotherapy?

Each of Rē Sauna’s infrared saunas are Chromotherapy equipped, allowing you to complement your infrared experience with the mood-altering benefits of visible light. Chromotherapy is the use of different wavelengths of visible light to affect your body and mind for improved health and happiness. This concept, once practiced in ancient Egypt, Greece, China and India, can be greatly beneficial when combined with infrared sauna use. Simply choose your colour based on your needs:
